MCSA (A+ and N+ Electives)

There are different combinations of modules which can lead to the MCSA. This option of using CompTIA qualifications as part of the MCSA is the most thorough. The drawback is the need to take 2 more examinations than the purely Microsoft route.

Designed for:      Network Administrators, Network Engineers, Systems Administrators, Network Technicians and Technical Support Specialists.

Pre-requisites:    Experience of using one or more: Windows 98/NT/2000/XP.

Course Content:

·          A+ Certification – (Test 220-301 and Test 220-302)

This module provides the essential hardware and operating system skills needed for a wide variety of job functions and is the foundation for the MCSA. A valuable qualification in its own right.

·          N+ Certification – (Test N10-003)

In this module generic networking skills are studied. Essential for the remainder of the MCSA course as well as strengthening further any CV. Another valuable qualification in its own right.

·          Windows XP Professional – (Test 70-270)

Introduction to Windows XP Professional; Installation of Windows XP Professional; Hardware Installation, Disk management, Managing the file system, The boot process, Workgroups and security, Configuring the desktop; TCP/IP configuration, Name resolution, Remote access users, Printing, Mobile computing, Monitoring the system.

·          Windows Server 2003 – (Test 70-290)

About Windows 2003 Server; Installation; Deploying windows, Configuring windows 2003 server, Booting Windows 2003, Hard disk management; File systems, User and group management, Sharing resources, Terminal services, Routing and remote access, Maintenance and troubleshooting, Performance monitoring.

·          Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure – (Test 70-291)

About network infrastructures; TCP/IP; Monitoring and troubleshooting TCP/IP; DNS; Configuring DNS; Monitoring, troubleshooting and designing DNS; WINS; Configuring and managing DHCP; Troubleshooting and designing DHCP; Routing and NAT; Remote Access; RADIUS; Network Security.

Study Options:

  1. Basic:          We supply high quality course manuals. Then, you’re on your own.

  2. Popular:      We supply high quality course materials, consisting of manuals, CDs and online progress testing. We then provide additional support. We provide the student with the necessary hardware and software to carry out the exercises built into the course materials. This is done through a series of supervised lab sessions at our centre, which can be arranged at times to suit the student.

  3. Online:        We supply high quality course materials, consisting of manuals, CDs and online progress testing. Additional support is then provided online. This consists of having access to an online mentor to answer any questions you may have, taking part in live online tutorials with other students logged on from around the country and also having access to virtual labs online where you can practice the skills you have learned by controlling computers remotely.

Taking The Examinations:

The exams for this qualification can be taken at our centre. The cost of sitting these exams is not included in any fees quoted.
